This person event does not now what he told about. I've never heard about Linx Volume Management. But if you want to talk us about LVM which is Logical Volume Management, firstly it can be used not only form command line and secondly LVM have RAID 1. For other RAID types there is a kernel software RAID implementation md.
So next time before posting such "news" better search and read something on the subject.
