Hi, I'm the author of ArchView extension. Thanks for all guys who love or hate my extension:-) And special thanks to Ben for this article, I'm very happy to read it.
For the issue about version 0.7.0 doesn't work on Linux, I' will check and fix it ASAP.
The second comment is right. To get the list of archive file, only file header is fetched. But tar format has no header to record the list of all entries. When .tar file was compressed, you have to uncompress the whole file to get the list. This is not the work style of ArchView :-)
