Going through the hassle of building a non-packaged app can be worthwhile, but in this case it doesn't seem worth the bother. From another terminal window on the machine inside the firewall, just
"scp user@remotemachine:filename ." copies the file. OK, it will prompt for your password, which the other method doesn't need. Is that really such a big deal?
No real advantage over scp
