gOS has more on the downside than on the upside. First of all if you make a distribution upgrade it will ruin the whole experience, as additional taskbars will appear, plus it's based on Canonical repositories, and it hasn't got it's OWN repositories, not even for the stuff that make it unique. At least they should make a package (or package group) with all the gOS specific settings, themes, artworks, and applications so you can make upgrades and keep the gOS in the same shape as it was when firstly installed. Plus, It's based on Ubutnu 8.04.1, by the time It will be released in final version, Ubuntu 8.10 will be released (maybe not in the same week as gOS but in the same month maybe). I haven't noticed these cons till I watched the video interview with the creator of gOS and how he said that the stuff were put like that because they want to make shure they work and sell on laptops when they are bought. But what about after, what about (at least) three months of updates and patches from Ubuntus repository?

I love the concept gOS brings, and how they are working on it. But if they wanna have a big community and support, those issues must be solved first.

Those were my 2$, Marin a.k.a. moondowner
