K9Copy helps make DVD backups easy

K9Copy has evolved to be a fine replacement for the former compression king, DVDShrink. The compression algorithms now produce a result equivalent to DVDShrink's high-quality setting, but in less time.

Unfortunately, libdvdcss2 does not always prove up to decrypting the latest copy-obviation algorithms. The best product for that is a proprietary product, DVDFab HD Decrypter. This is a free (as in free beer, not freedom), decryption-only version of a suite of DVD tools offered by the estimable author. His products are targeted at the Windows platform, but DVDFab HD Decrypter runs fine on WINE 1.0. You may have to manually enter the drive mount point for the software to find your disc, when doing so remember to use the Windows convention of using backslashes instead of forward ones.
