Honestly I found imprisonment while trying to use Linux professionaly at work. Reason being that I am in marketing and, like the majority of us on a payroll, have to worry about the quality of the applications, not the operating system which it runs on.
Linux at home? Sure, why not! Have as much fun as you can! I just find being commited to a computer related career to be imprisonment in its self regardless of how it ends up on your hardware.
