Actually, I think having Mono is not a bad thing, neither is Silverlight. The Bad Thing(tm) is that Mono is being pushed on the end user in Gnome.

Yes developing with Mono is easier than developing with the native GTK+ API, but I've always felt that developing with Qt was easier, any chance the GTK+ guys will revise their API for ease of use so people won't need to jump into stuff like Mono anymore?
