there's a version of Launchy for Linux now: http://launchy.net/. I like using Launchy on Windows better than using Gnome-Do on Linux--Launchy does a better job of guessing what I want to do with the file (usually run it). I can't speak to it much on LInux--I keep meaing to spend some time with it and haven't got around to it....
