Not a bad article, however, I find video for a program like this a bit overkill. I use Kopete. It has a few bugs that are annoying, but no show stoppers. I have used Pidgin in the past, but I found that as a KDE user, it had alot of nice features integrating with the Kontact address book and such. Both are decent messengers.
