The Kids use Edubuntu, but I have also taken an old system and routed all of the internet traffic through it. It's running IPCop with Dansguardian content filtering and where it's located ALL computers on my network is filtered.
{modem}--{ipcop}--{router}--<(computers)
The advantage of this is if the kids use a LiveCD, they don't bypass the content filtering on that single computer.. it's filtered for EVERYONE who uses the network. Only thing I need to do is make it more physically inaccessible to them (so the only accessible point for them is the router).
