The first thing that I used this for, was automatically chmod-ing all files in ~/bin to be executable. May be a bit simple, but it's a time saver, as I only keep executable scripts in there anyway. Before, I had been doing this via .bashrc which would autmatically chmod those files on startup. This way seems much more clean.
Useful for little tasks, too.
