I agree. I will be boycotting all Apple products. I was going to get a laptop, but no. If you think Microsoft has vendor lock, you haven't seen anything yet.
Their platform based on open source products as pointed out. Samba, Apache, OpenLDAP, BSD, WebKit, BIND are just a few Apple relies on to compete. Yet there is absolutely no way to sync my iPod Touch.
