iPhone applications for the Linux user

Sadly, GTKPod and Amarok cannot yet transfer files on an iPhone with the 2.x firmware upgrade

They'll probably never be able to -- not only did you have to jailbreak your iPhone with the 1.x firmware anyway, but now Apple has protected the iTunes database with a new hash value, so even with a jailbreak, you're out of luck. A previous hash system used on the iPod classic and recent iPod nanos was cracked, but Apple has used the DMCA to silence the project working on breaking the new hash.

There's a wide world of MP3 players and smartphones out there that aren't as locked down and anti-Linux as Apple's devices are. If you use Linux on your desktop, why would you buy an iPhone?
