Use Split Pannel (yes, spelled with a double 'n') instead of Tab Splitter. Does the same thing more intuitively (the button you click the menu item with indicates the direction of the split - right click for split and open new panel to the right, left click opens new panel to the left, etc). Also, unlike Tab Splitter, Split Pannel does *not* disable extensions in the new panel.
Also highly recommend YASS - Yet Another Smooth Scrolling. Makes Firefox smooth scroll actually *smooth*, with configurable dampening and acceleration. Long pages of text and threaded forums are a breeze to skim through with this wonderful tool. As an ex-Amiga user who misses the glassy-smooth text and graphic scrolling that system provided (on an early 80's 0.007ghz processor, no less), it finally feels like the 1000x increase in horsepower in my current PC over that system is justified (from a GUI usability standpoint).
