The teachers are in thrall to the administrators, The administrators, being stupid, think software is a two word phrase, first word "Microsoft". Wordprocessor means "Microsoft Word", spreadsheet means "Microsoft Excel", etc. The idea that there is non Microsoft software in the world is completely alien to them. Most of them have NEVER used or seen a computer that did not run M$ software. Computer classes are strictly in the use of M$ office products. Teaching programming is impossible because students math and logic skills are too weak.
