Subject : ps3 media server
ok i am thinking about turning my ps3 into a media server through linux, so i can watch download shows and stuff now i have a few questions 1. what linux should install on it (yellow dog) 2. is there a program for linux like windows media center 3. has anyone else done this if so what has been your experience

Yellow Dog Linux is of course sponsored by Sony for the PS3. You can however successfully install Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, Gentoo, OpenSUSE on it as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_for_PlayStation_3 As for a media center, a google search for "media center linux" will pop your eyes out. This is most promising: http://www.linuxmce.org/ The topic has been discussed and tossed around for quite a while so you can find good articles/discussions if you just search for it. There are also lots of videos on YouTube of people successfully running various distros on the PS3, so you can look at that as well. Cheers!
