Ubuntu taking a long time to boot
Hello, you may have seen my thread about Ubuntu not booting, that was because it took well over half an hour to boot up. It loads faster than windows until it says something along the lines of, "Starting Swapfile Swap" And stays there for a long time. This has been annoying me, and I've switched back to Windows because of this. Is this normal, or is there a fix? I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.

That's definitely not normal.
what's you're machine's specs/make and model?
this in liveCD or you've installed Ubuntu already?
How much space did you allocate for swap?

I have about 865 MB of RAM, NVidia 5200 FX, 3400+ AMD Athlon 64 processor, I don't know the rest.
I've installed Ubuntu already.
I'm not sure, I used Wubi and got a 10 GB installation. It said nothing about swap space.
Now I can't log in at all, it forces me to do this one "busybox" thing, and I don't know any commands to start up Ubuntu. It's like this command prompt.

can you still log into windows?
without seeing the screen, it's either GRUB (ubuntu's OS selector thingy) or you've somehow gotten into ubuntu already showing the terminal. It's the former, most probably...
As i've never used the Wubi install, I can't offer much but say uninstall and reinstall.
I'm not sure if the Ubuntu install allows you to repartion your hard drive, but if it does remember to set a home partition (/) and a swap partition when you re-install.

I think that Ante is correct; did you set aside space for a swap partition? Can you print your drive's partition table? And no, it is definitely not normal for Ubuntu :-)

I can still log in to Windows.
I've tried reinstalling. Nothing changes.

Exactly what does the system say when it hangs? Can you provide a printout? And when you reinstalled, did you make a swap partition?

When I burned a disc instead of using Wubi, it fixed itself. Lock thread.
