Help.. I tried 4 or 5 times last night. but i couldn't get it right.. I know it can be done.. but I cant figure it out.. I keep wiping out my windows partition or I keep getting errors saying that /root, /swap and / are not present or something like that.. Is there any one hit options that lets you resize the partition and configure it for you? thanks guys

How are you setting up your Linux partitions during installation?

Do you have min 2 partitions on your system? If not, you need to create partitions first and then when installing linux,point to correct partition and start the installation.

Jeremy, you didn't have to start 3 different threads to ask similar questions. One thread would have sufficed. Here's what you need to understand: 1. Linux and Windows can't co-exist on the same partition. 2. If you don't have any free partition on your hard disk, you can either resize your windows partitions, or format the disk and create new partitions, and then install Windows and Linux. 3. When installing Linux, you'd be presented with an option to choose where (which partition) you wish to install Linux on. 4. If you accidentally choose the Windows partition, then all data and Windows will be lost, which is what has happened with you already. 5. You can resize Windows partitions from the installer or use third party software like Partition Magic.
