Subject : Ubuntu 8.04 will not boot
I installed Ubuntu 8.04 in my pc. I have windows XP prof. When I boot the pc goes straight to windows with no option to go into linux. Any help?

That was my problem before. What i did is just reinstall my windows using the whole harddrive then after installing the windows, Ubuntu 8.04 LTS is next. Ubuntu can resize your drive with windows OS which will give way to your ubuntu installation. After that, you don't need to edit the Grub for your booter. Hope this will help... Don't forge to backup you windows OS files. :)

hector, what you need is a boot-loader. When installing Ubuntu, you must've overlooked the option when it asks you whether to install a boot-loader (GRUB). GRUB will present you a menu where you can select whether to boot into XP or Ubuntu each time you turn on your machine. Or, did you install Windows after installing Ubuntu? Anyway, here's what you need to do to get to Ubuntu. Boot into the Ubuntu LIve CD. Open a terminal, and type: sudo grub-install /dev/sda Let me know you setup a little. How many partitions, how many hard disks, where is Ubuntu, where is Windows and I can maybe give you more specific instructions. Cheers!
