I recently purchased a HP Pavilion Elite m9340f (I couldn't beat the deal). I tried to Dual boot with openSUSE 11 but I cannot get the on board wireless to work. I also couldn't get the on board TV tuner to work... but the wireless is what I am really concerned with. The wireless is a realtek RTL8168C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0). Has anybody put any brand Linux on this PC? What brand of Linux should I use? Thanks All

Download Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC review, download and buy now at ... All, Windows, Vista, Linux, Mac, PDA (Pocket PC, Palm, Handheld) ... www.downloadpipe.com/drivers-network/ review-Realtek-RTL8168CP-8111CP-PCI-E-Gigabit-Ethernet-NIC-1195822.html - 95k - Cached - Similar pages The link for the driver says it is for linux also, just download to Desktop and unzip and follow install instructions. I don't run Open Suse but If you can hook up your Laptop to the internet via wired network and update Open Suses package manager which I think is Yast. I am pretty sure that the madwifi drivers in the package manager support Realtek wifi card as well. [Modified by: rokytnji on August 27, 2008 09:20 PM]

For wired network, the following instructions were spot on: http://www.jamesonwilliams.com/hardy-r8168.html For wireless, I followed the instructions here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=683085&page=5 Take a close look at post 41 and 47. To make sure I could update "buid-essentials" I had to use the wired connection. Once everything was updated, I followed post 41 and since the my wireless connection works fine. Last but not least, you would need the NVIDIA driver (www.nvidia.com). I was told that you also get the package called nvidia-glx which is a better option if you get kernel updates (I haven't tested it yet) With the proper driver, the graphics card fan calmed down. Cheers, Erez p.s. I used it with ubuntu linux 8.0.41
