Fedora 9 with... postfix-2.5.1-2.fc9.i386 dovecot-1.0.15-10.fc9.i386 squirrelmail-1.4.13-1.fc9.noarch I'm a newbie to linux setting up email for the first time. I have apache server running and working. I found instructions for setting up postfix email here: http://www.linux.com/feature/52506 and I'm stuck at the section about squirrelmail midway down the page. By doing http://my_domain_name_/webmail I was gobsmacked to see the squirrelmail page actually worked. Problem is, it's asking for a username and password and I don't know what to put. Of course it's down to me to configure this and I've probably missed a big step somewhere but where do I do this? Second thing is if I go to a computer on a different broadband connection and do http://my_domain_name/ I see the web page I've set up, so that's all fine. But if I do http://my_domain_name/webmail I get: 'Forbidden You don't have permission to access /webmail/ on this server. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache/2.2.9 (Fedora) Server at my_domain_name Port 80 Could the linux firewall be doing this? I ticked the IMAP box to allow it but it still didn't work. Would it be cause by something else? thanks for any advice.

You can easily find good documentation. Maybe these will help: http://wiki.engardelinux.org/index.php/Installing_Squirrelmail http://ithacafreesoftware.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=73 http://www.flatmtn.com/article/setting-squirrelmail http://www.machighway.com/support/support_topics/email/how-to/squirrelmail.php http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/200
