Hi, We have our own servers, and host hundreds of website. Our servers are using Debian. What we want to be able to do is send hundreds/thousands of text messaging at the same time. What I know so far is that, you can either use a 3rd party site, like smsgateway.ca, and many more, or you can use a GSM device, either a modem or a phone. I contacted Rogers, and all their phones are GSM compatible. I also installed Kannel, but haven't gotten to make it work yet, ( and didnt buy a gsm device yet ). I guess what I want to know is, if im using a cell phone, will I be able to send thousands at the same time, or will it be sequential, and take hours to send them all. We want to broadcast an alert to members who have signed up. Is there any recommended Modems, Phones, linux scripts/software, that you guys know is working or better? We dont want to use a 3rd party, we want to own this, to be able to sell it to other clients. Any suggestions, help? Thanks in advance!

http://john.mcclumpha.org/linux/Build_your_own_SMS_gateway_with_Ubuntu_Linux_and_Gammu/ Go through the tools listed here: http://www.pxh.de/fs/gsmlib/doc/index.html You're looking for gsmsmsd (SMS message reception daemon). From the manpage for gsmsmsd: gsmsmsd reads new incoming SMS from the mobile phone and dispatches them to a user-defined action. Additionally it can send SMS message that it reads from a spooldir. Cheers!
