Advice for NOOB
OK well I won't have to time to mess around with everything until Saturday But I used the installer version so that I can run both Vista (sucks) With this however I can't get my printer to work and I can't watch any dvds I tried download the plugins in that were missing but I still having issues and that software maybe needed. My other problem is the sound needs to be corrected it is beyond low I turned it way up but it is still low.
Question will I need to buy Linux software or should most of my soft ware work because a lot of it came installed with my P.C. which was pre-installed with vista and I use a lot of these programs regularly.
Any Advice for the Noob would be a great help.

I am assuming you did the Wubi install of Ubuntu 8.10.
First off, you don;t need to buy Linux software.
Secondly, when you post a problem, details on your problem like printer maker, Distro you are using, Computer you are using, will go a long way in getting guys in the know how to respond to the problems you are having. I can't help you with a specific printer problem with a statement like this
"however I can't get my printer to work"
Now don't take offence at what I am telling you. I am just giving Noob advice. By the way, WELCOME TO LINUX.
How about starting here first.

Then bookmark this page here

That should be enough for now to get you going.

Also FWIW Linux is FREE. There are supported versions that you can buy (you are paying for support), but any Linux distribution can be (should be) downloaded for free. Also, Ubuntu will ship you installation/Live-CD discs for free if you want to wait for about 10 days to get them. Can't beat that! You don't even have to have a CD/DVD burner that way!
