How do I restart the Synaptic package manager
I have Ubuntu 8,04 installed
While doing an upgrade my computer froze and the update was incomplete
It's telling me to run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
But I tried to run dpkg in terminal it keeps telling me commanf not found
Because of this I can't do anymore updates
can anyone help with this?

Are you running dpkg with root priveleges? Type "sudo dpkg --configure -a"

Sometime a re-boot helps when trying to sort out Synaptic issues. No idea why though.

How do I restart the Synaptic package manager
Hi---- I am using GoS, and I also encountered same problem, The synaptic package manager showed an error message. I gave the same command "sudo dpkg --configure -a" but console keeps showing error message, It further shows a XML schema/File error.
...... I have tried out everything but still package manager wont recover... So need some help, ..... Thanks
