Subject : ubuntu desktop problem
Hi... i have installed ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386 , after installation when its ask for user name and password ( i am not using ROOT user), i can't see my desktop...my keyboard getting hangup and mouse is working..... Kindly give me solution... Regards, Pinakin

This is not enough information. I presume you get the normal graphical login screen and are using the standard Gnome desktop? Likely it is that your system is not using the correct video driver. What video adapter are you using? Let us know and we can provide instructions how to fix the desktop configuration.

pbbhatt, we wish to help you with this but the details you provided is not sufficient; i am not an expert but I can help guide you with questions which can help anyone here identify the cause of and the solution to your problem. 1) what do you see after boot? 2) if it asks your username password, did you supply it? 3) supposing you did, what happened?
