You don't need an anti-virus or anti-mal/spyware program for a Linux system at this time as there are no virus's prevalent for the Linux environment. At least not that I know of. Something you'll notice about Linux is as you're in your normal user account you don't have privileges to edit any system files or structures like you can in Windows, hence rendering any harmful script ... harmless.

Then, you might want to look at ClamAV as a solution.

Although Linux doesn't require an anti-virus program, it's good to have one to scan files so you don't pass a virus to a Windows computer in your network or through a forwarded email. ClamAV is probably the easiest to use. There is also F-Prot and even AVG has a version for Linux now. What if Bill Gates had a nickle for every time a Windows computer crashes... OH WAIT, he does!!!
