And it still said that after you ran chkdsk?Well if I were You I would try o get back into windows if it lets You and grab all my files I needed to a cd then either reinstall xp and select a smaller partition,or just go for fedora(or even try debian thats my fav /opinion lol!).

I know I did, although I even fooled myself like ten times and went back and forth reinstalling until-after I threw away three copies of windows xp and vista lol!-I said screw it,and I'm happy with it.Dont forget the tip about virtualbox, once You get it going(Youll still need your xp disk if you want to install that in it)its handy in case you need something that doesnt run on linux every once in a while.

sounds good.did You have any problems getting your files off the xp part? And a tip for when you get vbox running-since vbox virtualizes dome of your hardware,it needs its own drivers, sojsut like you would install drivers in windows you need to install the vbox hardware the same. There is a iso of a disc that contains the drivers and things you included when You install vbox(its usaully located somewhere like usr/share/virtualbox - called vboxguestadditions.iso or something)once you boot into virtual xp,you can mount this iso through vbox's hardare/device menu. Let me know if You need help as theres always something You can forget to do(half the fun is learning!).

You may find a lot of little things like that ,but dont get discouraged, chances are other paople have the same issue(s),so I always get to the root of the problem first if its hardware related, and find out what my hardware is(some of the fun to be had in linux is finding out what is actually going on in your comp,in fact i've had hardware i didnt even know about like my windows media center remote ir box could also control other devices, but only under linux lol!).Sounds like in your case the touchpad? driver isnt restarting properly after you return from sleep mode.try to find out what your hardware is for that(maybe synaptics touchpad if its a trackpad),and laybe try opening a terminal and typing: lspci -v ,and/or:lsusb -v ,and have a look through those. Also maybe try: dmesg ,right after You return from suspend, and see if anything looks suspicious.lspci is showing you what pci bus devices are in your comp, and lsusb is for usb devices, dmesg shows you the recent logged events in the system log so you can see if any errors occurred.

To make a program start when You login, click on the Desktop/preferences menu and look for sessions that will let You add startup programs.Click add on the startup programs tab and type in what You type to start the program.Did ever figure out what you mouse hardware was?(or is it a usb mouse?)
