Subject: Almost there.....Associating my domain name to my SMEserver.
Hi, I am in the process of attaching a standalone server to the internet, dynamically only at this time for some testing purposes. Static later. I have registered my domain names with mydomain.com and want to point the name name(s) to my server. The server is presently set up and running locally and is hooked directly to the cable modem. I have it hosting a local network (3 computers) and wireless, which has no problems accessing the internet. I want to host web pages when I am up and running. I guess that my question is: (1)what information do I have to inject into the SMEserver to get past the ISP, and, (2)when I transfer my domain names from mydomain.com, what information do I need to assemble to give to mydomains.com so that they can make the transfer. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. Will

I think your ISP has the answers your looking for. I do believe you need a static address, and that address has to be listed on a domain name server.
