Subject: removing linux
ok so I installed linux totally removed my winxp os and now I cant even get past the black and white log in screen. now that i tried to boot upmy winxp cd it doesnt get past the CHECKIN for system compatibilities then the screen goes black. how do i erased ubuntu using commands. so i can install my winxp again then burn me an iso disk and use ubuntu like that.

kal, something went wrong with your install. You should not have a black and white login screen. How did you install Ubuntu? It sounds like you do not have a CD.

ok so yeah you are right i didnt have the Cd when i installed ubuntu I downloaded the software then installed it like that. I couldnt install windows xp back so what I did was I got my wifes windows vista cd made formatted my drive installed it then went back and installed iwndows xp since now it lets me do it. then after installing windows xp on my pc I then downloaded ubuntu then I BURNEd the cd. then I followed the installation and was easy as cake. WOW such a bad headache I went thru just cuz i didnt install it with the Cd. well I now have ubuntu and love it. It was worth every time.

Use windows 2000 cd. It will show all the partition and also you can delete everything installed on your machine.Format all partion and install windows xp.

all's good now but... why didn't you just use your wife's computer to download Ubuntu, burn it there and install on your computer?
