I tried to format all 3 parts of my harddrive, i just got done simply fine w/ 2 from the 3 parts. \ONly the 3rd part(which keeps Windowns running) wont format. can anyone pelase help me with that or tell me how to install Linux w/out even deinstalling Windows XP??? that would be really nice, ladiesman101

if you want to have XP and Linux on the same machine, all you really have to do is pop the linux installer in your machine and not install on the partition where windows is most distros allow you to, or by default, search for other OSs currently in your computer and set up the bootloader (an OS selection thingy) to allow you to select an OS when you flip the switch of your computer.
