Subject: Becoming a System Administrator on Linux from scratch!
Hi guys and girls!
I'm quite interested in really getting into Linux, because there seem to be some good opportunities in being a System Administrator in Linux.
I know the basics of how to use the command line interface from dabbling with UNIX, but what are the next few steps to becoming a System Admin? I'm prepared to spend a year studying this intensively, but how can I go about structuring my voyage of LINUX Sys Admin self study? What is a logical way to go about it? Why have I asked the same question in different ways? Any recommendations on books or where to how to actually practice System Adminning without being a Sys Admin already?
Yours truly,
Mishia

Thanks for the two suggestions guys, so nice, I might try out that book, but the 'man' files seem so intimidating to me for no definable reason! I found my own little oasis of beginner information also:
http://tldp.org/LDP/sag/html/index.html
I've been going through it slowly and understanding where certain things are placed and what they do.
The problem is knowing how to manipulate these; when it comes to the crunch isn't that what a sysadmin is asked to do? Change stuff to fix things and make them better! Still, I guess knowing where elements are and why is the foundation to doing this. ;)

Another good resource is to study up for Linux Certs, you don't actually have to take the cert course, the documentation should cover a good deal of the basics.
I would start with the Linux+ cert, it seems to be the most generic one.
