Subject: Internet Settings Help
I have just set up my wireless internet to work through ndiswrapper, and it does work fine. The only drawback is that for some reason the internet is somewhat slow at connecting to a site, but once connected will download content very quickly. I saw this by going to youtube.com and just selecting a video. It takes about 20 seconds for it to finally load the page with the video, but then very quickly downloads the video, and this video being approximitely 8 minutes long. My internet connection is very fast, and in windows, using the same drivers that I used to configure ndiswrapper, the internet is just fine, and loads things very quickly. Another example of how, after connection, it loads quickly was a visit to speedtest.net. Once again it took about 20 seconds to actually load the page, but then once I initialized the "Speed Test", it was clocking in at ~16000 Kb/s Down and ~2500 Kb/s Up. Can someone perhaps tell me how to configure my internet so it loads at a decent rate. When I used to have an ethernet connection, with an ISP that provided much lower Down and Up rates, it would load pages instantly. My wireless connection is configured with the YaST Connection Settings Module, and is used with KInternet. I run OpenSuse 11 in a KDE3.5 environment, and I have a Netgear WG311v2 PCI wireless card. On average, I get 75% wireless signal, and of course 54 Mb/s speed. Can someone help me out with this?
