Subject: Virtualizing under a virtualization??
Hi there, I was wondering if its possible to virtualize a Windows instance under an already-virtualized Windows Virtual Machine??? I mean, I have Linux installed on which i use vmware to virtualize WindowsXP. What im trying to do is to install Vmware under my virtualized Windows and then install another Windows under it??? ¿Is that possible? Example: Linux Real Host(Fedora) --> VMware for Linux --> WindowsXP Virtual Machine ---> VmWare for Windows ---> WindowsXP Virtual Machine Thanks in advance. ~ Peter

Wait! It says "can not be installed", but not used. Did you try to copy it instead of installing?=) Im not that technically enlightened, but I know virtualization is done thru x86 virtual mode. Also in this article(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_virtualization) it is stated that VMWare captures commands as they pass from virtualized environments in virt86mode and reroutes them to normal x86-32/x64. So theoretically it is possible.

You can serially embed virtual machines using VirtualBox. Would that provide the performance you want?
