I am new to Linux and was pretty excited about trying it out. However after running the live CD of Ubuntu I'm pretty disappointed. 1. The screen resolution was set to the monitor's recommended value but still the text was blurry. 2. When browsing the internet part of the text in a given sentence would be blurry and as you move to the right side of the monitor the text would clear up slightly. I guess I might still try another Linux Distribution but these OS's feel like a lot of Hype. Still I wish Windows wasn't so crap either :-(

Me too I had a similar experience with this OS. And it is only when I found the right distribution for me that I finally migrated to Linux for 100% of my computer need. I made a quick start guide for beginner on this forum for my favorite distribution. http://www.linux.com/forums/topic/62 If you didn't like Ubuntu maybe you should choose the KDE environments for your next attempt. PS: Once you have install the distribution of your choice I highly recommend joining there official forum. This forum is good but it is pretty general,

You should probably check the System -> Administration -> Display tool to ensure the correct monitor is selected. And it's not just an issue about the monitor. Maybe it's your graphics card that is not properly configured or recognized. That could possibly be another reason for the blurred text. The Hardware tab on the Display Settings tool will let you configure your graphics card as well.

This is a monitor issue. Most new monitors have an auto adjust feature. Use it and let us know how it went.

That's one good thing about Linux: you have at least 3 desktops to choose from [KDE, Gnome and Xfce] as well as over 100 versions of Linux....so, it's all about variety and choice. Q: how many versions of Vista are available? Just checking......:) Scubapro
