Subject: Also new to Linux, also want it on older PC's.
Sick of MS and all its protection and security 'holes',etc but as many orhers do, I use it as it's related software readily available.Want to convert to Linux, so tried many ' Free CD/DVD with magazine' versions, and downloads such as Freespire.ububtu, fedora etc.The problems with these is they don't detect winmodems,so can't access the internet.Read about and downloaded scan modem.Detected modem type, but don't see what scanmodem really does,or how it gets Linux to connect to the net.
So thought I'd try AndLinux,as claims can run it on windows.Ubuntu also claimed this using Wubl lnstaller.Donloaded it from the net,and found it had a trojan in it when running the version installer.
Do I have to have an internet connection to run andlinux and windows,or can I access the internet through my Home Network? And how virus free are Linux versions? Anyone got viruses while using it or it's related software?

Well, I don't know anything about andLinux, but I've used Linux as my main OS for over 10 years, and I have never had a virus. Linux viruses are very few and far between because it's not easy to access the system illegally.
