Gday Joined: Aug 18, 2008 Posts: 1 Other Topics	Posted Aug 18, 2008 at 2:23:06 PM Subject: WEB SERVER HI EVERYBODY We are running a websolution company specificly working on host and domain services; some of the services on one of our servers (OS: Centos - Config: Dual Xeon 2.0 , 2 GB RAM) is sometimes hanging or not working properly. I was thinking of changing of the OS but I have no idea of what is the best solution for a webserver which runs more than 400 domain on it. Centos is a good distro, I wouldn't immediately suspect it as the root of the problem. What sort of problems are you having?

Now, lets help this person sort out their web server problems and stop pushing/dissing different distributions of Linux, OK?[/Rant] I agree with [blank] and proopnarine in that this is probably a web server problem, a hardware problem, or an OS problem. Have you tried updating the web server software? Have you had your configuration checked by an Apache guru? Have you ran system diagnostics on your hardware to make sure you don't have a network port flaking out? Have you updated the OS itself with current driver patches, etc? There are a LOT of factors here, any one, or a number of which, may be causing or contributing to your problem. Simply replacing the OS is not likely to solve it and may cause many more problems than you are having now. Sometimes real fast is almost as good as real time. Remember, Google is your friend!

If you know an approximate time when it hung, grep the /var/log/messages for that date and time. If the webserver is hiccuping take a look at the server log. Not sure where RedHat (CentOS) puts it. I would think /var/log/apache2
