Subject: Most Stable/Small Music Player?
Alright, so I've already tried Rythm Box and Audacious music players but both music players have the same problem. They just freeze up and won't play music. So I want to know what the best and most stable music player is that I could use. Please and thank you. =D

You can try Amarok, VLC, xmms,Gxine. They should be in your Package Manager.

That is Synaptic Package manager. Check out my post for setting up plugins for Firefox here. http://www.linux.com/forums/topic/2554

XMMS stopped development in like 2004, so I would probably avoid it. Its successor is Audacious. The question shouldn't be what else is out there, but why are the players freezing to begin with? From my experience Rythmbox have been very stable, same with Audacious. The fact that both of them have the same problem on your box would probably mean there is a deeper problem. What exactly happens? If you run them from the command line does it spit out any debugging output to help?

Bleh. I made another useless thread, is there a way to lock this? I guess it's just some random hardware glitch or some problem retrieving data, because the same issue occurrs with opening the files with totem. It will play, and then later it will let me select songs but it just won't play them. I have my files saved in a different folder than the music folder, is it possible that this could make some sort of problem with retrieving the music?

is it just a normal directory on the same drive? or is it like a mounted samba share or something? If its the same drive, maybe you have some harddrive problems or such. I would check the output of dmesg and tail /var/log/messages to see if anything jumps out at you.
