Subject: Still not sure of my Distro choice.
Hi everyone, I am a Linux newbie and have been using Unbuntu 5.10 for a short time now as a desktop, but I find myself wondering if I made the right choice of a Distro to use. You see, I have a small business in which I convert VHS taped movies to DVD (home movies not copyrighted material) and I also do wedding and all occassion type videos and pictures for my clients. The problem that I find myself in is that the cost to do the job meaning sofware wise is very costly because I am using Pinnacle's Movie editor program on my Windows XP Media Center computer and well, I want to change that to a more sleeker and less expensive version of the software or something comparable in the form of a Linux program with a distro that supports all the processes that Windows XP media center or better yet Mac OS X Leopard have to offer but in a Linux environment. I want to completely eliminate the dependency of MS Windorks. I love Mac OS X but that there again is very costly. The bottom line is that I want to cut costs with my business. I am already working on my new webserver and webpage with Apache and Ubuntu linux. I just want more, because I am addicted to Linux now. Thank you in advance for any all the help you may offer.
