Subject: How (if possible) does one use external hard drive to run it
I'm trying to use my external hard drive to run one of the distros. How can i get my computer to recognize the distro? I have little to no knowledge of a computers inner workings. Thanks in advance!

oh, forgot to say some things. I'm trying to dual run Vista with one of the distros. The external is an 80G about 46% full. The only reason I'm trying to use the external is because i can't seem to get enough partitioned on my main hard drive to run it.

Do you have Vista installed on your external hardrive? Or are you just using it as NTFS storage device? If Vista is installed on your internal hardrive you can follow this how to, to install and dualboot with vista. http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_with_linux_vista_installed_first.htm
