Open Source Operating System Features Like in Ubuntu, and all other Linux Distros are free to use by anyone.
People like you and me take thier own time out to help the open source communty and to show your appreciation of their efforts sometimes ask for a small donation to help in their continuing efforts in keeping you and I up to date with the latest hardware and software out there.
You are not required to donate but if you wish to do so the option is there. I for one donate what little I can when the oppurtinity provides itself.
You are getting a full operating system on a free cd with all the bells and whitsles. A internet connection will connect you to free depositories holding over 2,000 downloads of free open source software you can use for any application you may require. All this just by sending a request for a free cd.
CD sets sold by Linux Distributors are usually sold with a minimal cost of cd + the cost of mail. here is 1 link about what I am talking about. http://www.linux.org/vendor/retailer/distribution.html

You are welcome indianhits and welcome to the world of Linux.
Feel free to post any questions you may have after you receive and install your new linux operating system. Here is a useful link to start you on your way
http://www.tomlinux.ca/
http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_with_linux_vista_installed_first.htm
On the second link just go to the page where he shows how to do the Ubuntu install. Have fun.
