Subject: linux browsers and website compatibility
making a personal website and I wanted to make sure it displays right on all browsers.
So far have IE7, Firefox3, Opera, Safari and Chrome on a Windows machine to check...
thinking of linux browsers, can I have Epiphany (gnome), Konqueror (KDE), Dillo (XFCE) and other browsers on, let's say a default gnome Ubuntu, or would I have to install the other flavours of Ubuntu to be able to use the other browsers?
side question, anyone know how to get both IE 6 and IE 7 on the same machine?

I truthfully think thats a bit overkill because there are so many browsers out there. When I design I only stick with the big 3, IE Safari, Firefox.
I can't speak for Ubuntu specifically, but as long as the libraries for the base of KDE and XFCE are in the repository, you should be able to install them all fine.
Or you can use: http://browsershots.org/ I've used it a few times, its a pretty neat service. :)
If you need to install multiple IE clients on the same machine try: http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE I've use that as well, works fine.

There's a nice Firefox add-on called "IE NETRenderer", which lets you preview your website in any version of IE:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6455
Epiphany uses the same rendering engine as Firefox, so you don't need to test that. Dillo doesn't support CSS, so your page will look messed up.
I would suggest you make your page according to web standards, once finished, it should look fine in every standards compliant web browser (that is, anything but IE).
