Subject: Streaming Video using RealPlayer on an Asus EeePc.
Hi everyone, I'm relatively new to Linux but have been given the task of getting streaming video working on my girlfriend's Asus EeePc. I do not know exactly what distribution of Linux it uses. I have got some of the way to achieving this objective but I've hit a roadblock. The videos she wants to view are sourced directly from a URL. I have installed the latest version of RealPlayer and on importing the URL the video does not play. Instead, I get an error telling me that RealPlayer has missing components. On further investigation it seems that the following is missing:
text/html;charset=utf-8
This is the most obvious error I have encountered but I also had trouble configuring RealPlayer the first time I executed it, so it may not be setup correctly, which I may also require help with. On startup I was faced with the message "Note: wget must be installed and in the path" when RealPlayer tried to detect the internet connection. I would appreciate any help anyone can give. Sincerely, Ed King

Your Eee PC is sold with the Xandros desktop installed. Xandros is based on Debian. How did you install RealPlayer?
Your Eee PC is sold with the Xandros desktop installed. Xandros is based on Debian. How did you install RealPlayer?
I installed it by first downloading the .bin executable from Real, then using chmod to install the file. I also used chmod to execute it once it was installed. I can't remember the exact commands I used. How does this help you help me? I can't remember what model of EeePc my girlfriend has.

Try this http://wiki.eeeuser.com/real_audio And the information is helpful because there are several different ways to install Real on the eee PC. It is available as .bin files from Real, several different versions I believe, and it's also available as a .deb file from the Debian repositories.
