Subject: Streaming my OGG music
Hi. A/V is definitely not my speciality. However, I listen to CC licensed music exclusively, stored in OGG files. I've been getting tired of keeping my music directories synced on my laptop and my computers away from home, so I wanted to explore streaming my music from one of my home Linux servers. Would some one be willing to share any advice, or info about their own configurations, for someone just starting out in this? I've heard about Icecast. If I don't get any better suggestions, I'll probably try working my way through the Icecast documentation, and then I'll try to install it on one of my home servers. Personal info: I already use dynamic dns and port forwarding, so I should be able to get the connectivity part of it fiqured out easily enough. Most of my servers at home are running some form of Ubuntu (either Ubuntu server or a modified Fluxbuntu.)

I have these links for you. You can find good documentation on IceCast and other solutions if you google search. Music streaming has been discussed in forums and mailing lists since forever :) http://www.linux.com/feature/45448 http://www.linux.com/feature/131061 http://www.howtoforge.com/share_your_music_with_gnump3d Cheers!
