Subject: Any way around ATI 2600 Problems?
I have tried to install both ubuntu and fedora, but I keep on getting the same problem. After a seemingly random amount of time my screen simply goes black. If there is sound or something playing when this happens it keeps on playing normally leading me to assume it is just a video card problem. I have tried updating drivers and allowing the restricted ATI drivers to run but it keeps on happening. This does not happen when I am running windows. Is there anything that I can do or am I stuck with windows until I can get a different video card?

Is the card agp or pcie? I have the agp version of this card and had a incredibly hard time trying to get it to work. Although I have finally got it to work using ubuntu 8.10 and the very latested drivers from ati.
