Subject: Downloading Linux to a USB FLASH DRIVE
Hello all, I have a semi-old dell desk top that is eaten up with viruses and it is running on windows xp...which I have conveniently lost the installation disk for! I have a laptop with which I still run xp... I was wondering if anyone knew how to upload xp from my laptop to my desk top and if not if anyone knew how I would go about loading linux onto my desk top after I reformat it??.... using a usb flash drive... I would also like to know if my son will be able to play games on the linux os just as he did on xp.... games such as sponge bob, the sims, star wars... all ea games.... too much money down the drain otherwise ... not very computer savvy here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot say exactly about the pendrive linux but i can give a suggestion. If your desktop n laptop r working in windows then 1.u can connect the network dsl cable ,get the ip connectivity and then share the files.. 2.install linux completely fresh version (fedora-10).but u need to make 25--40gb free space. 3.install it and then make it as ur default os.. 4.games are not compltely compatible with linux. 5.If u got graphic card u need to get the software for it from www.nvidia.com . [b]but if u use linux there is no chance of viruses banging your system. If u still want to play games then have dual os(xp,linux)..xp is good for games go to http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ for further details [Modified by: roshan on January 28, 2009 06:36 AM]
