Subject: Printer help needed
Hi guys, I have aquired a Dell 720 photo printer. Looking online I gather that the Epson z600 driver will work with this item. The only instructions however are for installing it on Mandriva & I'm using Kubuntu. Would someone be so kind as to post step by step instructions for obtaining & installing said driver. Have tested the printer on Windows machine & it works. Using the KDE install new printer wizard this printer isn't offered as an option, if I select the generic text only printer it defaults to letter size paper which I can't change & which won,t print "file successfully sent to printer" , return message " format not recognized." many thanks

If its for Mandriva I am assuming its a rpm package? Here is how you transform rpm package to a DEB package, and install in Kubuntu. http://ubuntu.wordpress.com/2005/09/23/installing-using-an-rpm-file/

Are any Dell photo printers listed in your Kubuntu printer install options? Very often the drivers are the same, or similar enough. So if there is a model listed, try that instead of the generic printer selection. If rokytnji's suggestion doesn't work of course :-)
