Subject: newbie question about Freespire/Cedega
Hi, I'm moving to Linux Freespire. XP cloggs-up over time so I re-format from time to time to get speed back, then re-install, then call ms for permission to use what I paid for, then the other day I was turned-on to Freespire on ebay. Researched it and bought it. Well the past two nights I have been having dreams about freespire with illusions of like dropping a burden. Needless to say, I'm moving from ms crap to Freespire. I haven't made the move from XP Pro yet, Freespire isn't here yet, and I want to buy a new hard drive to install freespire on. How exactly does "Cedega" work ? I've read you pay like a monthly subscription fee. But I'm looking at cnr.com and they have 2 diff prices, 1 for $60 and 1 for premium price $44.95. I just want to get it and use it.

As an alternate to Cedega, you might want to consider using a virtual machine, like VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org/) for running Windows-only applications. It's free, and it runs applications nearly as fast as they would natively, with no compatibility issues. Hopefully somebody else can give you a full answer about Cedega.

Thanks. From what I've read I was thinking of that VM but wouldn't you have install xp in the VM and then activate it ? And might it run slower ? And would that give viruses a point of attack ? I am sick of windows. If possible I want nothing to do with their inferior, STOLEN from the guy Bill made a deal with and therefore cursed OS. I'm on dial-up now with 50.6kbps but after I install freespire I'll get 54Meg a sec and get file sharing and then I would guess the viruses will be unbound for the most part. Linux Freespire is good, windows..well if I can avoid it altogether then good. Anything about Cedega ?
