Subject: Also new to linux
Hello everybody, looking at the help and info on this site im glad this is the first one i clicked on on google. Basically my story is that im fed up of windows and want to overwrite vista x64 with linux on my laptop which is a acer aspire 5630 with intel centrino duo core processor, 106GB hard drive, mobile intel(R)945 express chipset family video adapter and 2GB DDR2. Ive looked at a few versions of linux including Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Fedora, Debian and freespire. The family PC a custom built model with a 200GB hard drive operating XP Pro has been partitioned roughly 100gb on each part which I wish to dual boot xp and linux, then when Im used to the os I will format the hard drive on my laptop and do a clean linux install. Ive been using windows since 98 and a couple of linux os's resemble windows. i use vista for a variety of things including downloading films and music, using nero/ roxio style software, and we enjoy installing/downloading and playing pc games. Im also a fan of auslogics, firefox and openoffice.
