Opinions wary from needs to personal choice. This is where I tell you that sharing copyright-protected files is a criminal offense.
Actually, sharing copyright-protected files is not necessarily a criminal offense, provided one of the parties is the copyright holder, or one has permission from the holder to share in this situation, such as editing the document in pursuit of fair-use applications. As far as I know, sharing a copyrighted document is not a criminal act per se, and often it is not a civil offense either, though I am not an IP attorney and don't know all the nuances involved. But, the fact is that anything one writes is protected by copyright, registered or not. So, I own the copyright to whatever I submit here, unless my joining this forum has included my agreement that all rights to what I submit here are transferred to linux.com. Frankly I don't remember, and really don't care... It's time we fixed this entire IP rights/privileges kerfuffle.
Sometimes real fast is almost as good as real time.

Ruberman, everything you said makes sense. The only reason I didn't mention it because I was talking about what I was talking about and everyone understands that. I was talking about "piracy". Be it software, music, pictures, movies, or whatever, and so the obligatory notice. Read no more into this, please.
I should have made it more clear though.
Cheers!
