1. Plug Verizon Wireless USB Modem into USB port. 2. Assuming you already have WINE installed, insert your Verizon Wireless cd into cd-rom. 3. Go to WINE’s configure screen, click drives tab. 4. Click cd-rom drive, and find the START.EXE, click ok 5. VZ Manager should run, click install VZ Manager 6. Go through the series of questions, pretty much just keep clicking next. 7. Now you should have a desktop icon for VZ Manager, Click on it. 8. NEXT, NEXT, blah blah 9. Once done with that, it will want to auto detect the USB wireless device, click next until you come to the screen where the NEXT button is no longer highlighted as an option. 10. Unplug the USB Modem, and plug it back in. The Linux will not recognize the USB Modem, Damn were screwed right? WRONG!!! Click CANCEL. 11. Now go to the top right of your screen where the connections icon is located. Click on it and now you will see a new option for MOBILE BROADBAND (CDMA) DEVICE. 12. Click Connect. Happy Surfing.

Ok now that I've installed ubuntu on another computer, I noticed that Ubuntu did recognize the USB modem without installing VZ Manager. Oh well, at least ppl can get it to actually work. Plug it in, connect.... so much easier.....

Hmmm. I wonder if Ubuntu 8.10 will recognize my Sprint USB modem also? I'll have to give that a try on my D630 laptop. It recognizes and uses the built-in Broadcom wi-fi card just fine.

Sometimes real fast is almost as good as real time. Remember, Google is your friend!
